AIR RECEIVERS

An air receiver vessel is a pressurised storage tank that sits between the compressor and the point of use. It buffers the system: it holds a reserve of compressed air so downstream pressure stays steady when demand jumps. Without one, the compressor cycles more often, burns more energy, and wears out sooner. A correctly sized, properly specified vessel is one of the cheapest ways to bring those running costs down.

WHY PAINTED?

  • A painted air vessel is the value pick when your air is dry or already treated. Galvanizing costs more and earns its keep only where condensate collects, so for clean indoor air you pay for storage, corrosion protection you don't need.
  • It does the core job of any receiver: buffers demand spikes so the compressor loads less and cycles less often. Fewer start-stops means lower energy bills and slower wear on your equipment.
  • The build is straightforward and proven. Carbon steel shell, tough  blue finish, rated to 11 or 12 bar depending on size, certified to the relevant PED directive. Sizes run from 150 litres for a small workshop up to 2,000 litres for continuous-duty plant.
  • It suits general industrial air in a dry indoor plant room, which covers most installations. Match it to a well-managed drain and it holds line pressure steady for years at a very competitive price.

WHY GALVANIZED ?

  • A galvanized air vessel protects against the one thing that kills a receiver from the inside: standing condensate. Hot-dip galvanizing coats every surface, inside and out, so wet or untreated air won't pit and rust the walls the way it does a painted tank.
  • It buys you service life in conditions that would shorten a painted vessel. Humid plant rooms, wet air, washdown-heavy sites in food, pharmaceutical, and marine settings all chew through standard coatings. Galvanizing holds up where they fail.
  • The performance matches the painted range spec for spec. Carbon steel core, rated to 11 or 12 bar, certified to the relevant PED directive, available from 150 litres up to 2,000 litres. You gain corrosion resistance without giving up capacity or pressure rating.
  • It costs more than painted, and for wet air that premium pays for itself. A pitted tank means early replacement and unplanned downtime; galvanizing is the cheaper answer over the life of the system. For condensate-heavy duty, it's the smart choice.

ACCESSORIES

A vessel on its own isn't a finished installation, and Edmac stocks the fittings to complete it. Safety valve and gauge kits cover the two mandatory fittings under one part number, calibrated to match your vessel at 11 or 12 bar and certified to 2014/68/EU (PED) — from the G 1/2" 3004810467 for small receivers up to the G 1" 3004810469 for tanks in the 1,000 to 2,000 litre range. Add a ball tap for isolation during service, or a manual or automatic drain on the bottom tapping to clear condensate before it attacks the walls. Order the vessel and its accessories together and the installation is compliant and ready to run from day one. Edmac has you covered.
