The thermal valve actuator is located on the interior of the manifold, which is attached to the cooler's bottom. When the oil heats up, this valve opens to allow coolant to flow through the cooler/radiator before the oil is returned to the sump tank.

When replacing the thermal valve actuator, you should also replace the thermal spring 22186696.
